How To Tie Dye Kids Clothing At Home

It’s officially Summers- the most thrilling time for all of us. We can wear the clothes we like, enjoy a hot summer day at the beach, and lay down a picnic on the open ground or surrounded by blissful nature. Making a Summer bucket list one of the favorite rituals among many children. They prepare a list curated with things they would like to do during their vacation. It’s time to do something different this year! Add a fun-filled activity to the bucket list - DIY Tie Dye clothing. Making tie dye shirts is a great way to engage your children in something fun and creative. Here’s an easy guide on making tie dye clothing at home.

What You Will Need

  • White shirts or any other piece of clothing, preferably 100% cotton material
  • Tie Dye Kit; if this is your first attempt, go for powdered dye. They make less mess, and all you have to do is mix some water and shake it.
  • Rubber bands
  • Gloves
  • Plastic bags

The Process

1.Wash your shirts beforehand and leave them damp.

2.Fold your shirts with rubber bands as desired. When folding is done, mix the bottles of dye. (Note: Do not mix the dye until it’s time. It remains at 100% strength for only one hour after mixing)

3.Use a large utility sink or a bathtub to dye the shirts. Place wire racks before the shirts so that they don’t touch the puddle of mud or dye lying below. Allow the excess dye to drip off and wrap the shirt in a plastic bag tightly. Immediately rinse the rub or sink. Once all the shirts have been dyed and wrapped, put the bags into larger plastic bags and set them in a place warm for 24 hours. This way, the dye would absorb completely into the fabric, and you’ll get vibrant results.

4.After 24 hours, let the rubber bands off and rinse the extra dye (if any) with cold water.

5.Make sure the excess dye is removed. Finish by blow drying to further settle the colors.

As simple as it is - DIY tie dye is extremely easy to do at home. Ensure you allow ample time for the dye to blend with the fabric and dry. Tie Dye is very much in fashion now. You can buy US kids clothing from the nearest clothing store or online.
